Main types of low voltage contact materials

Low-voltage contact materials generally refer to the contact materials used in low-voltage electrical appliances with operating voltage below 1200V AC and 1500V DC, our low-voltage contact products mainly include pure Ag, FAg, AgNi etc.

Pure silver is the best electrical and thermal conductivity of the contact material, low and stable contact resistance; strength, low hardness, good ductility, with excellent processing performance.

The mechanical and physical properties of pure silver including HV40~70,MPa 320~400, Pure silver is typically used for radio, communication for micro switches, and small capacity low voltage appliances etc.

 Fine grain silver is by adding trace amounts of nickel to pure silver, inhibiting the growth of silver grains, obtaining fine grain organization, thus improving the strength and hardness of the material and resistance to fusion welding and arc erosion, while maintaining the advantages of good electrical conductivity and low contact resistance.The mechanical and physical properties of fine grain silver including HV80~100,MPa 320~400, Fine grain silver is typically used for radio, communication for micro switches, and small capacity low voltage appliances etc.

Silver nickel has the advantages of good arc transfer characteristics, low and stable contact resistance and excellent processing performance. It has good resistance to welding and arc erosion under small and medium currents, and has strong resistance to material transfer under DC conditions: Increasing the nickel content can improve the material’s resistance to arcing, but will slightly increase the contact resistance and temperature rise. Using a special process to add a small amount of additives can significantly improve the resistance to welding and arc erosion of silver nickel materials. The mechanical and physical properties of AgNi10 with HV90~105,MPa 320~360, AgNi15 with HV90~105,MPa 320~360 AgNi10 and AgNi15 are typically used for radio, communication for micro switches, and small capacity low voltage appliances etc. AgNi12(T) with HV95~110,MPa 330~370 are typically used for general purpose relay, AgNi15(T) with HV199~115,MPa 330~370, AgNi20 with HV75~90, MPa260~320. are typically used for AC contactor, thermal protection device.
